FIREWORKS LOVE ‘EM OR HATE’EM
Even though they have been around for centuries, fireworks
become very popular around July 4 and New Year’s Eve. They
bring excitement and joy to some and sorrow and angst to others.
Florida law allows the public to explode fireworks legally on the 4 th
of July, on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day ONLY. In
Buckhorn, numerous people partake in the festivities. If you do
so, please note the following considerations and act accordingly:
Remember that we have residents that work shift work and
they need to get their sleep in order to report to work at the
hospital, Police/Sheriff’s office, MacDill, etc.
Buckhorn has many veterans living here, some of whom
suffer from PTSD.
Don’t use fireworks night after night for several nights just
because you can afford to by them.
Many of our residents’ pets suffer from the loud noise also.
Some pets will try to escape in order to get away from it.
If you use fireworks that go into the air and explode then
YOU need to be sure you can do so in an area that the falling
fireworks will not land on pool screens, roofs and vehicles
where the heat can cause damage.
It is illegal to explode fireworks on public property like
Buckhorn Park.
Each year people using fireworks suffer lifelong injuries.
Last year some Floridians lost fingers, hands, eyes and
suffered second/third degree burns on their body.
Be prepared to have rakes, brooms and trash cans at hand to
clean up all your debris immediately following your
fireworks fun. This is very important especially if you use
the streets in Buckhorn or the Buckhorn Springs Golf Club
property.
BE A RESPONSIBLE RESIDENT AND A POSITIVE EXAMPLE TO OTHERS!
