Where can you go to get free cash, credit/debit cards, even a firearm and a key fob? It is relatively easy. All you have to do is walk through various neighborhoods and pull on the door handles of parked trucks and cars!
In a neighborhood similar to ours in Ruskin this activity happened in one night recently. Not to mention that the thieves also stole a white Honda Accord, a gray Toyota Camry and a gray Toyota Highlander. They also got the garage door openers so they can come back to the residences when the families are at work or gone on vacation to get more loot.
Buckhorn residents can easily learn the lesson of vehicle burglary and vehicle theft through the experiences of others. It happens during the day hours as well as a night and the perpetrators are not always male, females are active also.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Simple, make it a ritual to lock your vehicle when you are not in it everywhere you park it. It is a good habit!
Also, do not leave packages, wallets/purses, computers/computer cases, firearms or anything else in plain sight that would entice a person to want to enter your vehicle. Over 80% of thefts from vehicles are because the vehicle is left unlocked!
