IT WORKS!
The article about the County’s FREE Property Fraud Alert
program that was in the recent spring/summer newsletter has
already showed one of our Buckhorn residents that it works in a
very timely manner.
The resident recently paid off his mortgage and the mortgage
company sent the county an official notice, “Mortgage Release,
Satisfaction and Discharge”. When the county filed the notice
against the homeowner’s address an automatic Property Fraud
Alert email was sent to the homeowner alerting him that a
document had been filed against his property. The email had
picture of the filed document for the homeowner to view.
Furthermore, the email instructed the homeowner what to do if
he was not aware of any document being legally filed against his
property. A link and a telephone number were provided so the
homeowner could easily contact the appropriate department to
deal with any fraudulent filing.
In this case the filing was lawful, but it shows that you can be
quickly notified of any filing that could be helpful or harmful to
your property.
